Vanilla Syrup (for Coffee, Tea, and Desserts!)

This is a basic, super easy sauce to make that forms the foundation for any syrup you want. Here, I'm flavoring it with vanilla, and I'll use this in other drink recipes on my blog!

You'll need:

  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c water
  • 1 1/2 Tbs pure vanilla extract

In a small saucepan, heat sugar and water over medium-high heat while stirring to melt the sugar. When totally liquid and combined, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.

Let cool, then store in the refrigerator up to 3 weeks. (Makes about 2 cups of syrup.)

Mix it up:

  • Add a different kind of extract depending on what you like - mint, lemon, coconut...
  • Or! Just do sugar and water - no extract - for a sweetener that won't be grainy in your tea or coffee. (This is what Starbucks calls Classic - if you want to mimic their prep!)
